What, in your opinion, has been the most difficult part of writing your analysis? Thinking critically? Expressing your thoughts in an organized fashion? Connecting your ideas? Please elaborate.
Probably the most difficult part of writing my analysis is making sure that my paper doesn't sound like a research paper. I feel like sometimes I start out good, but eventually end up terrible. I think that the advanced part of the title advanced composition gets to me and I feel pressured to make my papers perfect. However, I know that they won't be which is the whole purpose of the class, but compared to some of the kids, I feel like I have to match them. Anyways, other than that point, mostly just thinking that my paper has to be five pages long is difficult. I don't want to just start rambling on and on so that I can finish my paper. Oh well, I guess I'll figure it out. Peace out.
To me the hardest part of writing the anaylsis is not summarizing the movie to much. I keep wanting to explain the whole movie. I think I have a good idea but it's not working out how I planned. I completely agree with readsalot I feel like everyone else is such a good writer and I suck. I try really hard and sometimes I think I over think it.
None of you suck. Palease! You are all very good writers. Remember, everyone has to try! Many people think that individuals who are "good" at something are just naturals. Being a good writer is one percent talent and ninety-nine percent hard work!
Don't ever feel the need to top anyone elses writing. Everyone is unique in there own way so trying to do better then someone elses isn't worth the time. Just write your way and only that. Everyone one of us is intelligent and has intelligent thoughts and ideas. It is important to feel good about your writing, but not to the extreme where your comparing yourself with other people. YOU just need to be fine with it and thats it. For me I found that all of the analysis was pretty easy, although consider the analysis I choose. If u can't find something to analyze in Sin City with the femanist lense I take back what I said before about everyone being intelligent.
I agree with readsalot44, I feel that the most difficult part of writing my analysis paper is trying to summerize enough of the movie so that the reader gets understands my paper, but not over- summerizing. It was very difficult to write a character anaylsis, when the character develops throughout the whole movie. Trying to cram character development that takes two hours in the movie into only four to seven pages is very difficult.
The hardest thing to write about this paper, I think, is making sure my examples from the movie match the examples from the literary analysis book. College writing is sometimes hard to understand so I just hope I'm making good connections that are clear to understand to who ever reads my paper.
The hardest part about the analysis is summarizing the the movie to much. I have a lot of summary, but I am not sure if the reader will understand the analysis if there is not a summary of the whole movie. When I read Ms. Coleman's paper, she pretty much summarizes the whole film short while she analyzes the film. So I don't know really don't know how much summary to have.
I would definitely agree that trying to figure out how much of the movie to summarize is the hardest part of the analysis. Explaining the symbolism that occurs in a scene is very hard without setting up the scene
The hardest part of writing the analysis paper for me was establishing a concrete thesis sentance. I had an idea in my head but I had a hard time putting it into one good sentance. I also felt like I repeating myself alot when talking about why the director did certain things. I ended up using different words to describe similar scenarios. Overall, this has been the best paper so far in my opinion in terms of it being interesting and me actually wanting to write it.
I believe the most difficult part of my analysis is coming up with detailed examples that show what I'm trying to say. I'm using the Jane Schafer format, and in some areas, I can't seem to find an example that really gets my point across.
I believe the most difficult part of writing my analysis is to make sure I give enough details and examples that support my thesis, without summarizing the movie itself. However, I still feel that one needs to summarize the movie a little so someone who hasn't seen the movie can understand where you are coming from. I also find it difficult to not give an opinion, and still play the role of someone else's views.
The most difficult part for me, personally, was trying to not make it a complete summary of the films. I wanted to go into so much detail so the reader would understand what was going on, but that left me with too much summary and not enough analysis. I've learned a lot from writing this though, and I can't believe how much my writing has improved!

HAHA how ironic. I'm talking about how everyone in our class is intelligent and I make a typo in that same sentence."Everyone one" lol
